A low bump on the
edge of Orton Scar is about all there is to see of this monument which consists
of a 1 metre tall mound of limestone rubble covered with a layer of earth and
grass. It is a slightly oval Bronze
Age Round
Cairn that measures about 17-18 metres at its longest point and is overlooked
to the east by the brow of Beacon Hill with Great Asby Scar beyond. The cairn
stands just over a mile northwest from Gamelands circle
by the side of the B6260 road and checking the map reveals that there may just
about be a sight-line between the two sites - I'll have to check this out next
time I'm in the area.
