This is an interesting
pair of barrows that stand close to the busy A155 road just outside the village
of Revesby and close to the earthworks of an abandoned abbey. Whilst they could
date from the Bronze Age, it is much more probable that they are later Roman mounds.
Both are around 2.5 metres high, although one is flattened at the top and both are about 20 metres in diameter and have surrounding ditches. It is said that one of the barrows was found to contain a pit containing cremated bones. |
