OS Maps - Landranger 99 (Northallerton & Ripon), Explorer 302 (Northallerton & Thirsk)

The central henge at Thornborough, one of three that form the Thornborough henge complex.
This partial panorama (scroll left and right for the full view) was taken from the south bank of the central henge at Thornborough. The initial view is looking towards the northwest entrance clearly visible the gap on the opposite side of the earth embankment. The copse of trees in the distance behind the farmhouse is the location of the northern henge, about 700m (half a mile) away to the northwest. The light snow covering helps to demonstrate how well preserved the bank is in places, particularly on the western side (left of picture) while scolling to the right shows the gap in the bank that represents the southeast entrance.
